Between July 1, 2018 and July 1, 2019 (the period for which the U.S. Census Bureau released its most recent population estimates), the Houston-The Woodlands-Sugar Land Metropolitan Statistical Area (MSA) added the third most residents among all metros in the U.S. and it remains the fifth most populous Metropolitan Statistical Area (MSA).
